About
It all began down in the reverberating stairwell at Avo’s… five friends came together to share a love for Old Time music, and let it be said that they had a whole lot of fun along the way! In an effort to recreate that “stairwell-feeling“, Cottonwood Grove began to grow as a musical project and as a collaboration amongst friends.
Meet the Band
Bob Zuellig: In the 1980′s, Bob used to be a punk rock star in a band that toured with Black Flag. Now that he’s got his head screwed on straight, he’s found a love for Missouri fiddle music, and he finds it amusing to bring to the table as many “OMT’s” (Obscure Missouri Tunes) as he can possibly find. (more coming soon…) |
Lori Nitzel: Her husband seems to build her an endless supply of beautiful open-back banjos, so what choice does Lori have other than to play Clawhammer banjo? Perhaps she can get him to make a hurdy-gurdy one of these days…. (more coming soon…) |
Darrin Goodman: Nerdy desk-jockey by day, musician by night…. Although Darrin’s musical interests cross through the gates of many genres, Bluegrass and Old Time music are the closest to his heart. Mandolin, banjo, fiddle, guitar, and upright bass are all instruments that Darrin enjoys playing, along with expressing his vocal instrument. Darrin is a tinkerer of all sorts and enjoys exploring avenues for creation of new & original music. |
John Stewart: Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is indeed the real John Stewart, not the fake one you see each week on Comedy Central. A Fort Collins native, John makes his living as a full time bass player and plays in a number of bands. (more coming soon…) |
Chip Belcher: From Georgia, and one of the kindest folks you’ll ever meet, Chip plays guitar and sings Country and Bluegrass ballads with that beautiful swooning voice of his. (more coming soon…) |
